Book an eye test with one of our opticians
Do you really need an eye test? Hint – yes, you do. To keep your health in check, we recommend having your eyes tested every two years, even if they feel 100%. Our expert opticians and top-quality equipment will provide you with a quick, easy and enjoyable experience – free of charge.
It’s time for an eye test if:
✓ You sometimes squint in order to see clearly
✓ You get a lot of screen time every day
✓ You experience headaches and/or dizziness
✓ It’s been two years or more since your last eye test
✓ Your eyes feel tired, dry and/or irritated
✓ You are a driver, cyclist and/or pedestrian
What happens during an eye test?
Our optician will ask you a few screening questions, after which they will proceed to measure each of your eyes in order to determine your prescription.

For PRSI eye tests, just fill in your PPS number at the end of this booking form.

PRSI is a social insurance administered by the Department of Social Protection (DSP) in Ireland. You will find information about the scheme here.

Ace & Tate will check eligibility before the eye test when you provide your PRSI number.

Claims are made by Ace & Tate and we will check your entitlement in advance of treatment and claim payment afterwards. To do this we will require some information to identify you, such as your date of birth and PPS number.

Prior to treatment, you will need to sign a consent form agreeing to share this information with us and the DSP, this will enable payment of your claim. If you are claiming as a dependent under the PRSI record of your spouse, civil partner or cohabitant, you will both need to sign the consent form.

It's a comprehensive eye health screening for non-symptomatic eye disease (not just an assessment of your vision) completed using state-of-the-art technology.

NB: this is not for contact lens prescriptions or related problems.

The ultimate purpose of an eye test is to assess your eyes for common refractive errors (or vision conditions), including:

  • Myopia: Difficulty in seeing objects at a distance

  • Hyperopia: Difficulty in seeing objects up close

  • Astigmatism: Distorted vision due to irregular curvature of the cornea

  • Presbyopia: Difficulty reading at arm's length

Once we have completed the test we will advise on how much correction is needed in your lenses. These corrections are represented by a series of numbers which make up your prescription.

We recommend having your eyes tested every two years, even if they feel 100%. Our eyes change with time, so it’s important you know what’s going on with yours. If you are experiencing any discomfort or you suspect your prescription might have change, book you eye test as soon as possible to eliminate any possible causes.

It takes around 20 minutes (for both single vision and varifocal glasses), and our Online Vision Exam takes about 15 minutes.

You can choose a free frame from our PRSI range which will include a standard singlevision lens or multifocal lens at no extra charge. Alternatively, you have the opportunity to upgrade to any of our frames and lens options by applying your PRSI entitlement.
